The charcuterie and cheese platter alone is barely adequate. The first and second courses are forgettable. The wine, Primitivo di Manduria, is bottled by a winery in the province of Vicenza.

I share my experience with extreme disappointment. I'm giving a one-point review even though I didn't have the opportunity to dine. Obviously, I'm not judging the quality of the food, as I haven't personally tried it. I'm judging the lack of professionalism of Mr. Giovanni, who, despite a reservation made by phone two days in advance for a small group of six, refused to accommodate me on the day of lunch, offering no alternative. Considering the time of the reservation (1:30 PM), followed by the time wasted discussing it, my group and I were left empty-handed. Thank you again for your lack of availability. See you later.

We had dinner for two on a late September evening. Even without a reservation (which was highly recommended), they seated us anyway. We ordered a platter of cured meats and cheeses from the menu as an appetizer, accompanied by the typical ceccio, and two plates of strascinati with sausage and porcini mushrooms. Everything was delicious. The platter was extremely generous, and all the cured meats and cheeses were excellent. A special mention for the sweet and sour peppers I served with them: out of this world!! The first courses also arrived generously and richly, with plenty of sauce, and to top it all off, there was crumbled peperone cruscro. Everything was truly excellent and an enviable value. There is no phone service inside, but there is wifi.

Came across Caveosus vinum et cibus when searching for an authentic, local restaurant that served fish, at it was just a short walk from our Airbnb.
I was with my partner and her brother from a neighbouring town and wanted somewhere he'd enjoy but at an affordable price.
This was an absolute gem and the fish courses excellent and abundant, and so refined at the same time that I was surprised by their excellent prices.
Staff were relaxed but very attentive and we enjoyed may a conversation with them, including the talented and knowledgeable young female chef.
Forget about Michelin stars - this is the true soul of Basilicata on a plate.

Everything was delicious, the courtesy, kindness, and professionalism were top-notch! Everything was excellent, from the authentic flavors to the freshness of the food! Raw fish with seafood flavors to top-quality meats! Not to mention the very kind and attentive staff! From homemade cured meats to fragrant, delicious cheeses! In short, they cater to all tastes! Booking in advance is recommended. If you pass through Montescaglioso, it's impossible not to try our food!

Small but excellent restaurant.

The chef cooks with passion and heart. The staff is friendly and attentive. The prices are far too reasonable for this quality and quantity. We felt very comfortable. We celebrated my mother-in-law's birthday there. We paid €55 per person for the entire, very extensive menu. In Germany, if you can even find this quality, it costs three times as much.

Everything was perfect.

Cozy but small place, excellent cured meats and cheeses, much appreciated even by the little ones. Otherwise good!

A newly managed restaurant in the town center, with simple yet very welcoming furnishings! We ordered a selection of meat and seafood appetizers, expecting to only try a few since there were three of us for lunch. Instead, we were pleasantly surprised by the abundance and quality of the seafood appetizers! The sautéed mussels, with a delicious sauce, were especially delicious! Our first course was also excellent, and to top it all off, when it came to coffee, it was served with a classic moka pot, and even a little pandoro cake was offered to accompany it! The bill, too, was modest for what we ordered; so, what can I say? An absolutely positive experience, highly recommended!

The dishes were very good, and the appetizer platters were very generous. The service was very attentive.
