> We made a reservation on the spur of the moment because it was pouring with rain... and we had a truly wonderful time. If you're looking for traditional food and find yourself in Castelgandolfo, stop here—you won't regret it. The meatballs are delicious, the homemade tagliatelle are delicious, and the fillet steak is perfectly cooked. The staff is friendly and helpful.

> My wife and I stopped by just yesterday for lunch.\<br\>We ordered two first courses,\<br\>Tonnarelli cacio e pepe and pappardelle with wild boar.\<br\>The cacio e pepe arrived almost immediately, the tagliatelle after 40 minutes.\<br\>We also wanted a second course and dessert, but after our experience with the pasta, we decided against it.\<br\>Given the fame of the fraschetta, our expectations were high, but instead we've had much better meals at other less well-publicized restaurants in Lazio.

> We stopped for lunch at this Hosteria. We had the carbonara which was simply perfect, then the very tender porchetta, the best I've ever eaten, and to finish, a delicious tart with sour cherries. Very kind staff and a very nice place, highly recommended.

> The food was alright and reasonably priced. The waiters were friendly, but they didn't really understand English. The pasta was very al dente (definitely not suitable for dentures). We ordered red wine but received white wine, and no wine glasses.

> I'm giving it three stars so as not to be too negative because my work is sacred to me and I understand the difficulties, but honestly... we were drawn in by the fact that they were advertising the victory of four Borghese restaurants. We had a magnificent appetizer. Only cold cuts, and they weren't good. If you want cheese, you have to order another tray, just cheeses. A measly bag of bread. Three dishes were finished and no substitutes were offered. After the appetizer, we paid (average prices for the area) and dined elsewhere. It's a shame because it's a place with great potential, if it were managed more "lively."

> Good Roman cuisine. Almost all tables are outside because the dining room is small. Prices are average.

> The fettuccine for the amatriciana were out of stock. I was asked if tonnarello was okay. I said yes, and I got a pappardella (I think it had wild boar sauce, but it wasn't amatriciana anyway).\<br\>It was good, but we're still waiting for the parmesan cheese, which we've asked for like five times.\<br\>Good food, poor service.

> The experience didn't live up to expectations. Lots of publicity and notoriety thanks to the wins of four bourgeois restaurants, but not even a trace of the excellence described in the program. Non-existent service and very, very, very mediocre food. The area definitely offers better. A shame.

> The service was beyond awful. We asked for a new carbonara as the pasta was completely undercooked. Two people came out and confronted us about our dissatisfaction with the pasta, even though there were five of us including children eating. It was borderline rude and unpleasant.\<br\>We didn't even get a new pasta. They made us sit and wait... I don't think we've ever experienced more rude service before - and we travel a lot.

> I was intrigued by the episode that they won on the program of 4 restaurants, it is in the historic center near Lake Albano (Castel Gandolfo), I went with my mother with the thought of eating at a local fraschetta like they find in Ariccia, the waitresses were kind and friendly, nothing to complain about, but if the menu has lasagna that then runs out, you already have to change the dish and you understand the trend, but oh well we have appetizers brought cold cuts from fraschetta let's say for 6 without infamy or glory with porchetta too fatty with little meat and soft rind, I remain the usual local cold cuts for the cheeses instead you have to choose another cutting board, we also had the tripe as good as beans with excellent pork rinds (when I have to say they are good I say so), then for the first courses we had good gricia and excellent porcini mushrooms but the parsley was missing, oh well everyone will have their own version, and the stuffed ravioli instead of lasagna with courgette flowers and mozzarella (porchetta not)... unfortunately they were hard and acidognili therefore failed, we wanted to finish with the tiramisu and even finished those, we took some donuts which was what was left of the sweet, salty bill next round Ariccia direct.

> There are some places you approach with a wariness born of overly ambitious promises. "Best Fraschetta in the Castelli Romani," declared Alessandro Borghese. So, in Castel Gandolfo, everyone was waiting with bated breath for this establishment. The verdict bears a precise name: Hosteria La Fraschetta di Padre in Figlio. And the dish immediately silences the skeptics.\<br\>\<br\>Here, the meat doesn't cheat, it doesn't bother with frills. It arrives naked, proudly displayed on a rough stone slate, simply accompanied by a few grains of coarse salt, a sprig of rosemary, and a lemon wedge. The lamb scottadito is devoured instinctively, piping hot, almost roguish. The accompanying steak, meanwhile, boasts an audacious level of doneness. The meat is meltingly tender, incredibly generous, with a satisfyingly rich and flavorful chew that instantly brings you back to reality. Alongside it, perfectly cooked, earthy potatoes and endives, resembling grilled greens, served simply on a white plate, accompany this sensual feast.\<br\>\<br\>To conclude the ceremony, the tiramisu arrives. It is served with disarming coquettishness in a large pink cup, generously dusted with cocoa and crowned with a small chocolate plaque proudly proclaiming: "Hosteria di Padre in Figlio." It is an absolute delight, a creamy caress that coats the palate and prolongs the pleasure.\<br\>\<br\>The atmosphere is one that forges lasting memories. It is the ideal intimate retreat for a romantic dinner for two, sheltered from the hustle and bustle of Rome, and perhaps even the perfect setting to slip a ring on a fleeting glance. The reputation is well-deserved, the promise is kept: people flock there, they sit down at the table, they are deeply happy there.

> They're hiding behind a victory over ten years ago on the show "4 Ristoranti," but unfortunately, things have changed a lot.\<br\>The service is tired and distracted: they brought us two carbonaras instead of two gricias, and apparently, we weren't the only table where this happened. The mistake hasn't really been corrected, except for a gricia arriving at 4:00 PM, considering we sat down at 2:20 PM. And the pasta that, after numerous requests, was finally served was pappardelle, not tonnarelli.\<br\>The "papal appetizer" will be Pope Francis's, given how paltry it was. Terrible cured meats, not even a single cheese. The saving grace of the meal was the porchetta: good, but cold and not at all crispy. They should at least make the effort to heat it up and make it crispy.\<br\>I'd also remove the "Victory at 4 Ristoranti" sign because, given what we ate and the service we received, it no longer seems deserved.\<br\>I'm sorry to say this, because we'd been there before and had a great meal. Thanks to Melissa, who went out of her way to try to make amends, but the rest of the "team" seemed completely lost. Waiters who can't tell a carbonara from a gricia or who confuse one table with another are unacceptable. Such a demanding job requires passion, attention, and dedication. And, above all, a few more smiles.\<br\>Your T-shirts say that customers are not to be "disturbed." However, perhaps you too could put a little more effort into it.\<br\>Never again.
